Some of the best souvenirs you bring home with you after an epic adventure aside from the memories are the photographs. After years of traveling and having a mediocre point and shoot camera that at best got the job done, I was ready to upgrade to something that could zoom without becoming pixelated and capture moving objects instead of a blur. Before I buy anything I do a fair bit of research and compare many different products before I settle on what I would deem the perfect purchase. Searching for a camera was no different. As a novice photographer, I made a list of the few things I wanted from a camera that included zooming capabilities, action/sports setting, long battery life, and easy sharing options.
Zooming In For The Perfect Photo
I settled on the Canon EOS Rebel T6 DSLR with both the EF-S 18-55mm and EF 75-300mm zoom lenses. As someone who is still learning even the basics with photography, those numbers still don’t mean anything to me. Think of the 18-55mm as your shorter lens that is great for wide shots such as landscapes whereas the 75-300mm lens is longer and better for zooming in on far away objects. Both of these lenses detach from the camera very easily and each comes with a cap to protect it while not in use. Zooming is simply done by twisting the shaft of the lens and the camera will autofocus with half a push on the photo capture button.
User-Friendly For Beginngers
This Canon camera is very user-friendly and offers multiple settings such as sport, landscape or nighttime. For the most part, I keep mine in the action setting so that any moving object is still a crisp and focused image. As you advance your skills, there are a ton of other settings that you can play around with such as aperture or shutter speed. As I’ve mentioned, I am by no means an expert photographer so these words don’t mean much to me, but it is fun to play around with the settings.
Durable Enough For Any Adventure
The Rebel T6 has proven itself to be very durable even in the most uninviting conditions including cold temperatures, high humidity, and even a light rain (though it is not waterproof). I’ve slung this camera over my shoulder while I trekked to Everest Base Camp as well as taken it out on the water whale watching in Iceland. The Canon battery that comes with the camera has yet to fail me and only required one full charge in the cold temperatures of the Himalayas.
Sharing Made Easy
By far my favorite aspect of this camera is its ability to instantly share photos with my smartphone. All I have to do is turn on the Wifi for the camera as well as the Bluetooth/Wifi for my phone and the Canon app will read the photos directly from the camera. You are able to save your favorites to your phone which makes posting to social media during your adventures a breeze.
Simple And Gets The Job Done
If you are looking for a camera that is simple, yet has all the most important features to take the perfect photo in any situation then I highly recommend the Canon EOS Rebel T6 DSLR. You don’t have to be a professional to take fantastic photos, I promise. This camera does the work for you and can even teach you a thing or two about photography.
